I don’t usually do this but I made special photos for this submission and wanted to put them up. The show will be at the Raven Wolf Gallery in Grand Forks, North Dakota. I was invited to apply, but won’t know for a while whether my photographs have been accepted. (Be sure to click on the photos for a better view.)

Poetry of Bones

The Poetry of Bones is an International Photography Exhibition focusing on the theme of “Autumn”. The turning of the year centers on many different religions, cultures, celebrations, memorials, and tributes. These transition months lead us deep into the heart of winter. The Colonel Eugene E. Myers Art Gallery, located in the Department of Art & Design at the University of North Dakota welcomes your submission for our group exhibition, juried by international curator, photographer, photography theorist, philosopher of art, and educator, Zsolt Bátori. Show us your interpretation of this universal theme and what it means to you. All examples and styles of photography that fit this theme are encouraged to apply. This exhibition is sponsored by the Department of Art & Design within the campus of the University of North Dakota, the Myers Foundations, and the UND Photography Club. We are pleased this year to also offer submissions to international photographers for the first time.

Laurie says:

I have 2 Pandemic Shadow photos in this Exhibition.

Creating unique effects with light and shadows captured by a camera is, according to many, one of the most intriguing means of photographic expression. Photographers have relied on the possibilities offered by the creative use of light and shadows throughout the history of photography. In some cases, light and shadows are used to create a formal compositional element; in others, their role is to guide our gaze or focus our attention on specific parts of the image. Some images that rely on the interplay between light and shadow are dark-toned, while others present brightly lit scenes. The ways in which light and shadows contribute to photographic meaning depend solely on the imagination of the photographer. Zsolt Batori

This PH21 Gallery exhibition will be presented in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, in collaboration with Valid World Hall Gallery, a renowned centre for the visual arts.

I am delighted to be part of it. To see the whole exhibition go here.
