It’s about a week since I wrote this blog.   When I  did  darkroom printing, I’d look at the final prints and sometimes need a little time to know what I thought about them.  I’d leave them out where I could see them and that was part of my regular printing pattern.  Almost always, a week later I was profoundly happy with the images.  It didn’t matter how many years I had been printing, I still needed to do this. Apparently web pictures work the same way for me.  Looking at them now I’m glad to find  that  I have that same deep satisfaction with these photos.

I’m just starting to work with a small digital camera (Cannon PowerShot SD750). It’s the first time I’ve done digital shooting.

I vaguely reminds me of the small Cannon GQL film camera that I started shooting Women En Large with. It’s only a feeling ( a good feeling) since obviously the tech is completely different.

I’m going to be playing and learning using color for the first time. I think what I want to do right now is make small images that are only suitable for posting on the web. This is all very tentative but if it keeps feeling right I’ll be putting up images from time to time on the blog.

I shot these a while ago at the Museum of Natural History and then didn’t do anything with them until now. They have been cropped and sized but there is no other manipulation.  All the lights and reflections are what I saw through the lens and are real.

These images look very different then photographs on paper to me. At the moment it’s all very new and very interesting.
