I just saw an Associated Press article saying that, according to the police, “A 76-year-old performance artist was arrested after attacking Marcel Duchamp’s ‘Fountain’ — a porcelain urinal — with a hammer.”

The completely ordinary, if ancient urinal, is valued at 3.6 million dollars, because of Duchamp’s labeling of it.

Truly a surreal moment.
