Debbie’s friend Patti pointed us to Marc Quinn’s sculpture of Alison Lapper, disability and women’s safety activist, and photographer. This giant nude sculpture of Lapper was done when she was pregnant. It stands in London’s Trafalgar Square, home of Nelson’s Column, where it is generating a lot of attention and controversy. The photographs of the statue look stunning, not to mention how exciting it is to see this kind of hero showcased in one of London’s major public spaces.
We were going to blog about this when we checked out Lapper’s own work.
We are currently speechless with admiration. Take a look and see what you think; we’ll be back when we’ve started to take it all in.
