Off to Japan

Laurie says:

My complete Women of Japan project and gallery texts (edited by Debbie and translated by a number of helpful people, including Beth Cary, Hagiwara Hiroko, and others) will be shown for the first time as a featured exhibit of Nippon 2007, the World Science Fiction Convention. The exhibit will be at the Pacifico Convention Center in Yokohama from August 31 to September 2nd.

Nippon 2007 expects an attendance of at least 2500 Asians and 1000 Westerners. The Women of Japan exhibit will be 38 images – a mixture of 13″ by 19″ archival digital prints and 8 1/2″ by 11″ silver gelatin prints, with short gallery texts from the models. Texts will be bilingual. The
exhibit area will be open to the general public during the day.

There will be a panel at the convention on “Women of Japan” that will include Kotani Mari, Tachibana Manami , Fukazawa Junko, Rebecca Jennison and me.

I’ll also be doing two artist’s talks and walk-throughs of the exhibition. I’m really very happy to have all of the photographs on exhibit in Japan.

After I leave Tokyo and Yokohama, I will be in the Kansai (September 9-13) and then in Okinawa (September 15 – 17th), visiting with models and other supporters of the project. I’m really looking forward to being back in Japan.

I’ll be blogging intermittently as I travel.
